Hen Party Houses in Norfolk

Take it back to basics with a hen party in the great outdoors that everyone will love

ABOUT NORFOLK

INTRODUCTION TO NORFOLK

Norfolk might not be at the top of your list when planning your hen party but, let us tell you, it should be. You see, this little slice of haven in England’s East Anglia is home to some of the most beautiful countryside and sandy beaches in the UK. Not just that but it’s also bordered by Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk. These locations alone are enough to tempt you as well as the fact that the county town of Norwich has something for every age, budget and taste.

Blow away the cobwebs with an outdoor adventure around The Broads. Explore the cafe culture and local delicacies in one of the neighbouring market towns. Set up a champagne picnic on the golden sands, and watch the sunset beyond your homemade fire. Or, head into the city for a day of shopping and cocktails, and maybe even a theatre production, before a night in at your hen party house with a private chef.

Whatever you enjoy doing, you’re sure to find something to suit here, making it a great choice for mixed hen party groups of all sizes and ages.

HOW TO GET TO NORFOLK

Whether coming from elsewhere in the UK, or overseas, there are plenty of ways to reach Norfolk. Trains leave from London Liverpool Street and King’s Cross every hour, and take just two hours – the perfect amount of time for a DIY boozy brunch. The nearest airports are London Stansted or Norwich, and there’s also fantastic road links which connect the North and South.

Once there, the Coasthopper connects the whole of the region and there’s also plenty of taxis roaming around. For something a little different, you could even hire a bike or e-bike which are proving popular in the area.

BEST PLACES TO VISIT IN NORFOLK FOR HEN GROUPS

Norwich

If you’re looking for more of your typical hen weekend celebrations (by that we mean, vodka shots, slut drops and places where it’s ok to wear ALL of the bride-to-be paraphernalia) then Norwich won’t disappoint. But it’s not just the huge variety of bars, restaurants, clubs and shops that will impress. Norwich is also one of the prettiest cities in the UK and has a rich cultural heritage that is still apparent today. For a classy celebration, with a few tipsy nights, this is the place for you.

Great Yarmouth

Dream of jetting abroad for your hen do, but can’t face the hassle of flying? Great Yarmouth offers everything you could want from a European hen without airport stresses. Okay, so we might be being generous here but a hen do in Great Yarmouth will definitely be a laugh. Here, the atmosphere is always buzzing and there’s always something to do. Let your hair down at the Pleasure Beach, catch a show at one of the theatres, and, if the weather’s not on your side, there’s lots of bars and restaurants that welcome large groups in.

The Norfolk Broads

One of Norfolk’s best-loved places to go, The Broads National Park has more than 125 miles of waterways as well as incredible countryside and quaint towns and villages. A hen party here might be at a slightly slower pace but not every bride-to-be fancies a traditional celebration. Find your dream hen party house, stock the fridge with all your favourite bits, hire a boat for a day, don your walking boots for an afternoon of exploring and unwind in the hot tub surrounded by all your besties. A hen party here is definitely good for the soul.

Shopping

Norfolk is home to lots of picture-perfect villages and towns, so it probably won’t surprise you that there are more independent stores and individual brands lining the street compared to big-name labels. If it’s the latter you’re looking for, a trip into the bigger cities like Norwich is probably best. Wherever you choose to go though, you’re sure to find plenty of places to enjoy perusing – as well as lots of options for a fizzy lunch afterwards.

Restaurants & Food

Almost every corner you turn in Norfolk, you’ll either come face-to-face with a pub or independent cafe. Fast-becoming a foodie destination, many of the pubs here make frequent appearances in the UK’s Pub Guides. And plenty serve up their own made ales and craft spirits. Again, for something a little livelier, Norwich is your best bet – where you’ll find a great choice of venues offering bottomless brunch, Happy Hour and more.

BEST HEN GROUP ACTIVITIES IN NORDOLK

Nude Life Drawing

BEST FOR A GUARANTEED LAUGH

Picture it now – your glasses are full, all your besties are surrounding you, there’s a semi-naked man at the front, and he’s yours for a full hour and a half. That’s exactly what a Nude Life Drawing session is like. Don’t worry if you can’t draw either. You see, this art session is less about being the next Picasso and more about having fun, and few school girl giggles. Even better, it can be completed in the comfort of your very own hen party house or holiday cottage.

Cocktail Making

BEST FOR A LITTLE COMPETITION

Whether you choose to head to one of Norwich’s bars, or want to host the experience back at home, cocktail making is a great hen party activity. See who can come up with the best cocktail names, shake and shimmy as you mix up the most delicious drinks and hold a tasting session to determine who is the winner. Everyone knows that the loser has to do shots…

A Dance Party

BEST FOR BRUSHING UP ON YOUR MOVES

From burlesque and Beyonce to musical theatre and 80s, there are all sorts of hen party dance classes on offer. Led by an expert, you can get into full costume or simply pop on some accessories, before learning a themed routine with the best tunes in tow. Again, you don’t need to be a pro – and it’s probably funnier if you’re not.

 A Private Boat Tour

BEST FOR FEELING BOUJEE

Norfolk is home to lots of waterway, which makes a private boat tour a very good option for a classy hen party activity. Either hire one yourself or search for a boat with a skipper and sit back with a bottle of the good old stuff. Pack a picnic full of your favourite foods, wrap up warm to stay cosy and don’t forget your camera. You’re never going to want to forget these moments.

Private Dining Experience

BEST FOR SHOWING OFF ON THE ‘GRAM

Hen parties don’t have to be spent in the bar. If you’re looking for something to keep you occupied before it’s time to head there, however, a craft day should be top of your list. From place settings to knicker customisation, Make at 140 will be loved by all your guests. At least you’ll remember some of your weekend…
