ABOUT BRISTOL
INTRODUCTION TO BRISTOL
Quirky, laidback and full of culture, there’s no other city quite like Bristol in the whole of the UK. Brimming with beautiful buildings, many of which house incredible restaurants, bars and clubs, we couldn’t think of a better spot for an utterly unforgettable hen party.
Just a two-hour train ride from London, Bristol boasts a wonderful range of ‘hen houses’. From sleek modern apartments to charming old townhouses, when it comes to top-notch group accommodation, Bristol really does have it all. Play your cards right and you might even be able to bag a bachelorette pad with a hot tub or swimming pool – pool party, anyone?
The fun definitely doesn’t end when you leave the house either. With a fantastic range of eating and drinking spots, Bristol has something to suit all tastes and budgets – no matter how picky! And, being in the midst of stunning south-west countryside and close to the coast, you’ll have plenty of opportunities for adventures during the weekend.
HOW TO GET TO BRISTOL
Once you’re there, it’s pretty easy to get around. Bristol was the UK’s first cycling city, so why not hire some bikes and explore on wheels? Walking is also a great option, as everything is pretty close. If your legs are tired, then you can make use of the city’s excellent public transport by hopping on one of the frequent bus services. Taxis are relatively inexpensive and can be ordered using the ‘BRAXI’ app – which means Bristol City Council will have licenced your driver.
BEST PLACES TO VISIT IN BRISTOL FOR HEN GROUPS
Bristol Harbour
Don’t miss a trip to Bristol’s picturesque harbourside. Here you can get the hen weekend started by heading out on a paddleboard adventure, before continuing the fun at the many bars and restaurants which line the waterfront. There’s also the Harbourside Market on every Sunday, which boasts plenty of food stalls, arts & crafts vendors and live music – the perfect remedy if you’ve overdone it the night before.
Clifton Village
One of the loveliest areas in Bristol, Clifton is famous for its beautiful Georgian architecture and an array of independent boutiques, cafes, restaurants and bars. What’s more, the area is home to the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge, where you’ll find stunning views of the surrounding area.
Bristol City Centre
A trip to Bristol wouldn’t be complete without visiting the bustling, vibrant city centre. Those who’ve decided to take the saying’ something old and something new’ seriously, should head to Cabots Circus in Bristol Shopping Quarter. With nearly 100 shops and an array of restaurants and bars here, you’ll all be able to shop until you drop (preferably into a seat in a bar, cocktail in hand).
Restaurants & Food
If you’re a keen foodie, then you’ve come to the right place. Bristolians are very proud of their food and locally-made produce, and you’ll evidence of this wherever you go. The city boasts a wealth of incredible eateries, each with their own unique style and flavour and with menus to suit every taste and budget.
If you’re a group of dedicated carnivores, then head to The Ox for great slabs of juicy steak, washed down by a cocktail, or three! If you want to go one up on the steak, then make your way to the Spiny Lobster for one of their infamous ‘Jazz & Shellfish’ evenings.
Spice fiends should book a table at the small-but-perfectly-formed Chai Sai, which is one of Bristol’s best curry houses. Otherwise, if your hens love Italian food, then Bosco Pizzeria will be spot on. The menu here is packed full with cured meats, creamy cheeses, fresh pasta and, of course, utterly divine pizza – what more could a girl ask for?!
If the above is all sounding a little too fancy, then Chomp does some of the finest burgers in town, as well as cracking veggie options. If there are plenty of different tastes and dietary requirements in the group, then you really can’t go wrong with a burger!
