Hen Party Houses in The Midlands

Halfway between the north and south, and a standout destination for hen parties of all ages.

ABOUT THE MIDLANDS

INTRODUCTION TO THE MIDLANDS

Looking for a hen party destination that’s easily accessible for guests coming from all over? Perhaps you can’t make your mind up between a lively city break or a quieter celebration in the countryside? Either way, the Midlands is a great place to go. Used to describe the central region of England and encompassing Birmingham, Nottingham, Coventry and the likes of Leicester, there’s plenty to do and see here – whatever sort of hen party you’re looking for.

Enjoy shopping, theatre, cocktails and more in some of England’s biggest cities. Go climbing and hiking in the Peak District. Head to the smaller market towns and see areas of outstanding natural beauty and the home of William Shakespeare. You see, Central England is steeped in art, history and culture and makes for a fantastic place to go for your last night of freedom.

What’s more, the accommodation is just as varied. Think large party pads with pools, luxury apartments with all the mod cons and newly renovated barns – with more space than you could ever need.

HOW TO GET TO THE MIDLANDS

Depending on where you’re going, by car, it can take 2-3 hours to reach your Midlands destination. Of course, if you’re not the designated driver, this is ample time to scream out some Beyonce hits and enjoy some homemade cocktails. By train, it takes around 1-2 hours from London and there are also coach and bus services connecting the north and south. Once there, whether you’re staying in one of the cities or a nearby town, there’s plenty of taxi firms available meaning you don’t need to break your killer heels in.

BEST PLACES TO VISIT IN THE MIDLANDS FOR HEN PARTIES

Birmingham

Buzzing Birmingham is a cool and contemporary city, brimming with fascinating culture, an epic nightlife scene, and endless activities to keep your entire group happy. It even boasts more canals than Venice! Canal-side cocktails, anyone? The city centre itself is jam-packed with fantastic shops, bars and restaurants, galleries, theatres and museums. For a night out, it’s got to be Birmingham Gay Village – an effervescent neighbourhood featuring vibrant late-night pubs, bars, and nightclubs, as well as cosmopolitan al-fresco cafes. And if you’re looking for something a little quieter, Edgbaston – an affluent suburb – boasts gastropubs, boutiques, delis, and international restaurants. A must-visit is the 15-acre Birmingham Botanical Garden, where you can admire over 7,000 species of plants, shrubs, and trees. The perfect place to enjoy a picnic on a warm, sunny day.

Coventry

A popular city in central England, Coventry is famous for its Cathedral. For a small fee, you can even admire one of England’s largest bell towers and climb to the top. You’ll have to tackle 180 steps though, so you might want to leave your heels at home that day. Failing that, you could marvel at the architecture from a nearby bar… As well as this, the city is a popular hotspot for shopping, theatre, comedy and more. The Empire Coventry has quickly become a focal point for the city’s live music scene, and it’s played host to some big names over the last few years. It also regularly hosts tribute bands so it’s definitely worth a visit if you want to dance the night away.

Leicester

This buzzing East Midlands city has a lot to shout about! And, after a short walk around, we guarantee you’ll understand exactly why it was voted one of the best places to live and work recently. With a rich history, diverse culture, natural beauty, and buzzing night-time hotspots, Leicester is a real hen party haven! At the heart lies the famous Clock Tower – once the centrepiece of a roundabout and now an iconic feature in the city, and there’s also Abbey Park, a fantastic place to enjoy the sunshine. Pop open a bottle of bubbly and sit down to a classy hen party picnic.

Shopping

If you’re looking for a little retail therapy, the Midlands won’t disappoint. In Birmingham, you’ve got the Bullring & Grand Central shopping centre. Coventry is home to a famous indoor market and Leicester boasts a range of designer and high-street brands. Of course, after a morning of shopping, you’ll probably need somewhere to rest your feet. So you’ll be pleased to know there’s lots of champagne bars perfect for a fizzy pitstop.

Restaurants and bars

No hen party is complete without delicious food, and the Midlands offers a great variety for any palate. In the countryside, you’ve got inns, gastropubs, tearooms and restaurants for all manner of budgets. And, in the cities, you can choose between Peruvian, Vietnamese, Argentinian, Italian and Mediterranean to name a few. For places that serve up top food and offer a guaranteed good night out, we recommend checking out the Good Food Guide.
