ABOUT LONDON

INTRODUCTION TO LONDON

A hen party in London. Where do we even start?! It simply has everything you’d want for the ultimate celebration – incredible food, a range of cocktail bars, culture, sightseeing and endless nightlife activities. Easily accessible from all of the UK – and further afield – once there, there’s plenty of places to explore too. Covent Garden, Soho, Brixton, or Chelsea – whatever you’re looking for, you’re sure to find it here. And you’ll be pleased to know that a London hen do doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg… That’s our cockney impression for ya!

Start your weekend with a little retail therapy, before refuelling in one of the many themed bars. One of the best things about London is all of the cheap stuff you can do – champagne picnic in one the parks? Last-minute theatre tickets for the West End? Whatever the weather and age range of your hens, London certainly won’t disappoint.

HOW TO GET TO LONDON

Whether train, tube, plane or car, London is a great base for hens coming from all over. Parking can be slightly difficult in the city centre (that is unless you have a Smart Car) so we’d advise getting the train straight into Euston, Kings Cross or Piccadilly. The best part about travelling by train? The stations here are packed with bars meaning you can top up while waiting for everyone to arrive. A delayed train never looked so good… Once there, taxis, tubes and buses are all you need to see everything.

BEST PLACES TO VISIT IN LONDON

FOR HEN GROUPS

Shoreditch

Years ago, Shoreditch and its neighbour, Hoxton, were run down, empty and slightly dangerous. But find us a now up-and-coming area that wasn’t! Anyone who’s anyone heads to Shoreditch for a night out, flocking to the clubs and bars. With trendy eateries including gastropubs and unusual restaurants, Shoreditch is a place you can really let your hair down at all times of the day. There’s also plenty of vintage shops and individual boutiques for those hens who don’t want to drink constantly…

Covent Garden

A trip to London isn’t complete without a visit to Covent Garden – London’s shopping and entertainment hub. Peruse the car-free Piazza, treat yourself in one of the many shops, try some food at the Apple Market and get involved with some of the street performers. This is London’s musical theatre land so why not drop into the box office to see what deals are available?

Mayfair

If you’re looking for a sophisticated affair, it’s got to be Mayfair. Located just off Hyde Park, you’ll find leafy streets lined with Georgian houses, incredible restaurants and a whole host of retailers and fashion boutiques. A visit to one of the modern art galleries has got to be on the agenda and, afterwards, head to Burlington Arcade and Shepherd Market for a glass of fizz.

Soho

Soho is London’s ultimate party place. Boasting an array of dining options, shops and nightlife, you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice. Some of our favourite areas include Old Crompton, Dean and Frith street. A trip to Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club is also a must.

Shopping

From independent boutiques and small retailers to high-street favourites and huge designer brands, London’s shopping scene has it all. Favourite haunts include Covent Garden, Liberty’s, Carnaby, Oxford and Regent Street. You’ll only wish your partner was here to carry the bags…

Restaurants and food

If you’re not sold on a hen do in London just yet, when you see the selection of restaurants, you definitely will be. Choose from favourite chains, independent names, pop-ups and more. Our pick of the best include: Blues Kitchen, Bunga Bunga, Dishoom, and Pizza East

BEST HEN GROUP ACTIVITIES IN LONDON

Nude Life drawing

BEST FOR SOMETHING UNIQUE

A Nude Life drawing session is ideal for hens looking to let their hair down, unleash their creativity while taking part in a sophisticated activity. Your 1.5 hour event will begin with a few drinking games, before your model gets into a series of poses. Your bride can even get involved in the final shot! This event can be as naughty or nice as you like, and makes for a great memory for years to come.

Drag queen bottomless brunch

BEST FOR FUN

Bottomless brunch is a must-do hen party activity. But have you considered a drag queen event? Head to Canary Wharf’s Breakfast Club for an all-singing, all-dancing boozy brunch. Just don’t forget to tell them you’re here for a hen do. We guarantee you won’t be disappointed…

Sailing up the Thames

BEST FOR UNFORGETTABLE MEMORIES

Of course, you could hire an actual boat and sail down the Thames. Or, you could give it a hen do makeover and travel in a hot tub boat. Yes, that’s right. The water’s even set to 38 degrees, making it a great activity whatever the weather. There’s also a BBQ boat that has a real-life grill in the middle and prices start from just £15pp. We think we’ve found our new favourite activity.

Climb the 02

BEST FOR ACTIVE HENS

Not every hen drinks, and not every hen wants to spend her entire hen do in a pub. And this activity proves that you don’t need booze to have a good time. Led by an instructor, you’ll be taken higher than you’ve ever walked before. Why not book at dusk for incredible views over the city? Tickets start from £30pp.

Group masterclass

BEST FOR GETTING CREATIVE

From fascinator making to chocolate creating, London has plenty of workshops that will leave you with something to take away. Ohlala even combines two of life’s best things – sweet treats and alcohol in this macaron and martini class. You can even personalise your bakes with wedding colours and pictures of the groom!
