Sussex offers you everything you could want and more for a hen do celebration. Head to the west for rolling countryside, magnificent stately homes and inspiring castle set ups. You’ll also find towns like Worthing and Shoreham along the west sussex coastline – which are ideal for a British seaside break. In east sussex, you’ll find more luscious land to explore as well as the infamous Brighton – where of course, there is plenty to do. Whatever you’re hoping to do, Sussex has it all – from fantastic nightlife, calm retreats, a lively music scene and ample history. Less than two hours from London and easily accessible from all other major cities, it really will tick all the boxes for a pre-wedding weekend with the girls.

Located on the south coast of Britain, Sussex is easily reached from all corners of the UK. Of course, it depends where exactly you’re heading but typically a train journey from London takes just under two hours. It’s also easily accessible from London Gatwick for those coming from afar. Once here, you can choose to travel around by taxi, bus or foot!

West Sussex
Brighton Beach

Of course, we couldn’t not include a trip to Brighton for your hen weekend celebrations. Whether you fancy a girly shopping day with drinks afterwards or want to hit the nightlife, this cosmopolitan seaside town will not disappoint. Jam-packed with restaurants, bars and an incredible music scene, the people of Brighton definitely know how to party!

Planning a hen do for all ages? Looking for something that your bestie and nana will love? It’s got to be Eastbourne. Just picture a traditional British seaside town and Eastbourne has it. From a pier packed with entertainment to plenty of restaurants and bars to keep you occupied, it’s certainly worth a visit – even just for the day.

Camber Sands

Another coastal town that’s got to be on your list is Camber Sands. Again, whether you choose to stay the night or simply fancy a day trip, it’s definitely worth it. Why not pack a prosecco lunch and enjoy on the beach or head there in the evening for a sunset BBQ?

If you’re looking for something a little more lively, then Sussex’s biggest city – Chichester – will do the job. Whether you’re interested in arts or culture, heritage, walking or cycling there is plenty for you to see and do – and a vast range of bars, restaurants and nightlife to keep you busy. Often described as a hidden gem of a city, its cobbled streets are steeped in history. Think vibrant green parks, endless shopping opportunities, hidden gardens and leading theatres and art galleries. Chichester really does offer a great city break.

Restaurants & Food

From beachside restaurants and coastal cafes to countryside pubs and chic cocktail bars, you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice in Sussex. As mentioned above, if you’re looking for a night out that you won’t exactly remember (thanks alcohol) but certainly won’t forget, it’s got to be Brighton. But if you’re searching for something a little more chilled, there’s plenty of pubs with live music.

After a morning spent taking in those coastal scenes, there’s nothing better than a traditional afternoon tea – champagne of course. From grand Georgian hotels to cosy little cafes, there really is something for everyone in this part of the UK.

DIY Wine & Cheese Tasting

Ladies, what’s the best thing about the countryside?! The amount of space for vineyards!! Get dressed up and wander around the crops, taking in the scenes and indulging in a little tasting. Oh, who are we kidding? Vineyard tours are the best way to get a little tipsy while professing your non-existent wine knowledge. Plus, the gift shop is our kind of shop…

A craft day

Your hen party is a great excuse for getting all the girls together, and some you might not have seen for yonks. So instead of getting drunk (that can happen later) why not start the weekend off in a calmer way? From fascinator-making to flower crown designing, The Crafty Hen will be loved by all your guests.

A night in with a private chef

A hen weekend in Sussex might not have you out until 4am doing vodka shots but it doesn’t have to be boring. Grab all your friends, set up a cocktail bar in the comfort of your hen party holiday home and welcome your very own private chef into the dining room. Not only will they create a delicious meal but often tidying the dining table afterward is included – it’s a win-win! This must be what it’s like to be famous, right?!

Pre-theatre cocktails and a musical

Daytime performances are not only really convenient but there’s also bundles of pre-theatre meal deals just waiting to be snapped up. A great hen party activity for when the weather’s not on your side, simply book in advance or turn up to the box office on the day and see what tickets they’ve got left.
